That time we drove across the whole country

Dallin came home from his 6 week long military training in alabama right after I got home from Europe. Calvin and I went to pick him up at the airport in Vegas (Mae stayed at the Mitchells because it was late). Calvin looked so dang cute holding his little sign at the bottom of the escalator. Every person coming down couldn't help but smile when they saw him. Dal and I stayed in a cool hotel in Vegas (thanks to Aubree and Craig) that night while Cal slept at the Hunters. We were so so happy to see him.

After driving to St. George the next morning we spent one day there, then we were on the road. The first day we drove from St. George to some small city in Texas (I forgot what it was called), spending a couple hours in Albuquerque's old town. It was a cool little city, but we got rained out. We missed Mae, but it was so fun to travel with just Calvin. He is the best little traveler ever and made our trip 100 times better.

The next day we drove to Austin to stay with Kyle and Whitney! On the way there we explored downtown Austin. We walked around downtown and loved it- such a neat city. Thanks to brenna's recommendation we had some delicious tacos at Torchy's before seeing the cool views at Mt. Bonnell. We stopped at to see Annie and Curtis on our way (they just moved to Austin). It was so great to see them + meet their new cute baby! We loved seeing Kyle and Whitney. Kyle had the day off the next day so he took us to a swimming hole by his house. Calvin loved it! Hobbes didn't- he hates swimming. It was so fun to see their house and explore their city.

Thennnn we drove to New Orleans! We got there really late. The next day we went to an alligator swamp tour. It was hot and sticky but Cal had been looking forward to it the whole trip + he loved it. Our tour guide was awesome and the highlight of the day was Cal getting to hold a baby alligator. We then went to explore New Orleans. We liked the city much more than we thought we would! We loved the jazz music, unique buildings and yummy beignets. We were having a lot of fun and noticed we were super close to bourbon street. We had decided not to go there beforehand but we ended up turning down the street and it was pretty cool. Buuuuuut then we went to dinner... and when we came out of dinner it was nighttime. On bourbon street. So we left the city with a weird taste in our mouth but still had a good time.

We did miss Mae, but this road trip will always be one of my favorite memories with Dallin and Calvin. Cal was so sweet the whole time and it was so nice to have Dallin all to myself after having him gone for 6 weeks. Exploring the country with my favorite guys.

p.s. Hobbes was there too
