This summer in Texas has been so much better! It hasn't been quite so hot here, we have friends now, vacations planned, just all around so great. Oh! and Dallin had a really great schedule in June! It felt much needed for our family to have a break from the crazy residency hours. It couldn't have come at a better time with school being out. Dal also moved onto his second year of residency! His program had a lot of get togethers in July so we got to spend a lot of time with our residency family.
Aubree's family spent a day at our house after we drove back from Galveston. We ate at Torchy's (they were as impressed with the queso as I am) and went to Barton Springs pool in Austin. I love both Austin and the hunter family so all around great day.
I love this cute, tall niece of mine so much |
I had a girl's weekend!!! I love my kids but I do love having a few days to recharge with my girls. I went with Carly and Laura to celebrate my 30th birthday. I love them and couldn't imagine my experience living here without them.
We died Mae's hair pink! It lasted a month and I loved it.
In June we got to watch a bird build a nest in our backyard, then she laid eggs, they hatched, we got to watch her feed her 4 babies, then they flew away. It was cute.
BIGGEST NEWS EVERRRRR MAE STOPPED SUCKING HER THUMB!!!! Mae has sucked her thumb basically 20 hours a day since she was 14 months. We have tried so many things to get her to stop. Dallin made her a contraption that we named 'thumbalina' out of syringe, elastic, and watch band. We didn't take it off for a little over 3 weeks. We let her take it off for the cruise and she has not sucked her thumb since!
We had a day spent at Colorado Bend State Park. The hike there was beautiful and we had the best time swimming in the river once we got there. Mae struggled on the hike back but all around lovely day.
4th of July spent with Dallin's coworkers. Dal had the day off! We watched the fireworks with Jill and Thomas. Calvin and Mae gave sooo much weird commentary the entire time. "What if the fireworks were actually cars and then they fell on top of us and we died?".
We spent all of the other Texas summer days at the Stillhouse Lake, jetskiing, the pool, or the creek in Salado.
