Olympia in the Summa-time

We have been doing so many fun things this month (because the weather here!!). We hear that sometimes it rains in Washington... we are not believing it so far because it's been lovely. There are so many pretty places right next to our house. Adjusting here has also been much better this month when Dal isn't at work 7 days a week.

With the Douglass and Robbins family walking the Sequalitchew trail to the sound.

The view of Mt. Rainier from the hospital where Dal works.

The prettiest trail by our house! Cal is getting better at hiking at walked the whole 2 miles.

Long Lake with Tiffany and her girls.

Hired our first babysitter to have a date night with Dal's coworkers at this pretty place.

I noticed there was a "superhero training" day at the library by our house. Calvin is obsessed with all things super hero and LOVED it.

We headed straight from there to the farmer's market where Mae slept the whole time and Cal got some funny looks.

I got called to to be the primary pianist. Dal had to work my first day playing and Mae was super miffed about other people trying to take care of her and screamed most of the time.

"Mom, I climbed and reached the licorice! and I share with Mae!"

An afternoon with Benson. Mae wants to hang out with the big kids.
Walking around tumwater falls with Jenna and Scout.

It finally rained! Scout was hanging out at our house that day. She and Calvin ran in the rain for a full hour and both were pretty bummed when I made them come inside.

Made some edible finger paints. Dal liked it more than Calvin.

We went up camping with some friends in our ward. We missed Dal (who was working), but Cal was in heaven running around with friends. Mae just ate a lot of dirt.

We went to the point defiance zoo this weekend. Cal is getting more and more fun. Mae (surprisingly) looooved the fish. It was a superb day.

I do love Las Vegas, but summertime here is so much better!!

The Ira Springs Trail to Mason Lake

Dal is on emergency medicine this month... which means he has days off that are not Saturdays. Perfect for doing things without huge crowds. This week we went to the Ira Springs trail and hiked to Mason Lake. It was a bit harder than we expected. It was 3.5 miles of pretty steep uphill to the lake. It was rough carting the babies up! None of these photos do the view any kind of justice at all. It was incredible. The lake was also beautiful and we basically had it all to ourselves. Calvin had fun running around and Mae ate dirt :) We ate our lunches up there and Dal & I jumped in the (freezing) lake. The way back was downhill the whole way and it was lovely. Seriously such an amazing day.

Mae @ 10 months

Oh, Mae mae. She is such a stinker and so sweet at the same time. She has changed so much this month!

At 10 months...
-Mae recently learned to pull herself up! For the first full week after learning, she couldn't figure out how to get back down and would basically climb up onto everything and then scream her head off because she was "stuck". That was also a week of no naps because she would get stuck against her crib. Luckily, she has since learned to plop herself back down and is getting a little more stable on her feet!
-She loves the swings, the hiking backpack, being thrown in the air, the stroller, and Hobbes.
-She's a major mama's girl. It is both cute and hard.
-She hates every day from like 5 pm to 6, which is right when I am trying to make dinner. So she crawls around following me and climbs up my leg crying. She kind of makes me hate cooking.
-I know she knows how to crawl on her knees, but she exclusively army crawls. It makes her super dirty all the time.
-She doesn't cry anymore (usually) when I put her down for naps and bed. She still wakes up at 5 to eat, then again for the day at 7:30. She takes some kind of car nap in the morning, then one from 2-4 while Calvin is napping.
-She doesn't really do well playing on the floor, but she also doesn't like to to be held. It's tricky. Ideally for her, I would either be crawling around on the floor with her, or carrying her around.
-Still breastfeeding. She is eating less baby food and more real food. Her favorites are avocado, bananas, and raspberries.
-She says, "mama", "dada", "yaya", "baba"
-She does this thing where she will smile at strangers and then buries her head into my chest. It is kinda flirty/shy and it's adorable.
-She also does this lip smacking thing all day long.
-Wearing mostly 3-6 month clothes. She's tiny.

We really, really love our tiny, high-maintenance, sweet little girl.
